Fatty was brought into this world by my kitty Lucky. Why is she called Lucky? Well, as you might have guessed, because she is a lucky fucker.
Fatty went missing for five days. We searched high and low, prayed he’d find his way back to us. Then, miraculously, he did. But when my girlfriend went to pet him, she noticed something horrifying. There was a huge hole in his back leg, deep enough to see the bone, with maggots crawling inside it. The infection had already started eating through his muscle.
We rushed him to the vet for emergency surgery. They had to take skin from his stomach to cover the wound and stitched him up as best as they could. We picked him up two days later, hoping the worst was behind us. But then my girlfriend found another hole. It wasn’t huge, but it was bad enough to land him back at the vet.
This time, Fatty came home with 16 stitches and 13 staples, even in his front leg. We had to take him in every few days so they could drain the wounds and monitor how he was healing.
It’s been a long road. It’s been exhausting, overwhelming, and costly. But through all of it, Fatty kept fighting. He’s a trooper, strong, brave, and never giving up. He’s been through hell, but he made it home. And we’ll be right here with him, every step of the way.
